Forget political differences, unite and start a new chapter - Tarique Rahman

 

Bangladesh Nationalist Party - Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has called on everyone to forget political strife and build national unity to create a new chapter in the pages of history.

He said, "The new chapter must be one where no one's life and family will be destroyed due to political differences."

Tareque Rahman emphasized the same theme in a tweet today with a verified X handle and a verified Facebook post, saying, "Let's forget political strife and unite, where no one's life and family will be destroyed due to political differences."

He said, the beauty of truth is that truth is inevitable and it is reassuring to people that justice and truth will automatically win.

Tarique Rahman pledged to uphold the spirit of democracy, which is faith and trust, diversity and ideals, and the empowerment of the people of Bangladesh, who will determine their own destiny through participation in elections.

He said, “In this journey, we hope to uphold the rule of law, human rights, and freedom of expression, protect the rights and freedoms of every citizen, and establish an inclusive, tolerant, and law-based society.”

Tareque Rahman expressed this sentiment on social media hours after the High Court Division acquitted him and all the accused in the case on Sunday.

Tarique Rahman and other accused in the case were convicted in two cases filed under the murder and explosives acts by the lower court. The verdict was given in the grenade attack case on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital on August 21, 2004.

A bench of the High Court Division comprising Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain overturned the lower court's verdict and gave the verdict on Sunday. BNP has expressed satisfaction with the High Court's verdict.
