House Republicans are set to advance Plan C for government funding.
Following two unsuccessful attempts and with only hours remaining before a midnight deadline, House Republicans have reached a consensus on a new funding proposal. However, several challenges still lie ahead to prevent a government shutdown. After a nearly two-hour meeting with Republican members, House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., announced that the conference is "unified" around the plan, though specific details were not disclosed. "There is unanimous agreement in the room that we need to move forward," Johnson stated to reporters. "I am confident that we will proceed without a government shutdown, fulfilling our obligations to farmers in need, disaster victims nationwide, and ensuring that military personnel and essential services, as well as all federal employees, receive their paychecks during the holiday season."
