President Trump has dismissed Rohit Chopra from his position as the director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

marking another instance of the administration's efforts to remove officials associated with the previous Democratic administration. Chopra, who had been a significant figure in the regulatory landscape since the onset of the Trump presidency, expressed in a letter shared on social media that it was an "extraordinary privilege" to have served in this capacity. He emphasized the importance of agencies like the CFPB in a time when power is concentrated among a select few, highlighting the bureau's role in upholding the rule of law.Chopra's termination was communicated to him through an email from the White House, as reported by a source familiar with the situation. Previously appointed by Trump as a Democratic member of the Federal Trade Commission, Chopra was later selected by President Biden to lead the CFPB, an agency he had a hand in establishing following the financial crisis of 2008-09. In his farewell message to Trump, Chopra expressed hope that the CFPB would continue to champion economic liberty in America, wishing the president success in his service to the nation.
